The Wedding Bridal Party Dance. Why?

So much of a wedding day is based around tradition that it is nice to be able to have a time that is just for fun. The ceremony will be quite stressful and then there is the time when all the guests are greeted and the bride and groom have to stand and smile for sometimes more than an hour while people tell them how beautiful they look and how much happiness there is in front of them.

After that there will be the meal and then the speeches. The fear that the best man is going to say something they should not will be overpowering and then the knowledge that the bride’s father will probably make her cry. The only thing to get through then is their first dance together and then the wedding bridal party dance and then the couple can enjoy the rest of the day.

The Wedding Bridal Part Dance is normally the bride, groom, bridesmaids, best man parents of both the bride and groom and then a few special guests. This will take place after the bride and groom have had their first dance and will lead to the guests getting on the dance floor en masse.

It will be best not to have a romantic song as it may be a little difficult for people to dance if there are odd numbers. There are bound to be more bridesmaids than anything else and the best man could only dance with one. What happens to the other if there are only two to start with? The song will normally be something that everyone can dance to in a group and will allow anyone who is not much of a dancer to sway a bit rather than have to be too energetic.

Songs about friends will be ideal for this dance or something like Celebration from Kool and the Gang or a well known song that will have everyone singing along – I’ll be There For You – or better known as the theme from Friends. As soon as this song has finished the DJ will normally invite anyone who wants to dance to join the wedding party on the dance floor.

There seems to be a trend when it comes to the Wedding party dance and that is to pre- arrange a well choreographed version of a well known song. Example s of this that have appeared online are songs such as Michael Jacksons Thriller, but anything that has a dance routine will be suitable. This will mean that the old tradition will have to go out of the window as not many parents will want to dance along to Thriller or other songs like that. There could be a compromise for the couple who want a fun dance to entertain guests and that is to start off with the traditional dance and then let the parents sit down and the younger members can give their performance.

It is a nice tradition to have the different generation on the dance floor together but it is a tradition that is beginning to change.
